What is a periodontist?

A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal (gum) disease and in the placement and maintenance of dental implants. Periodontists are experts in the treatment of all forms of periodontal disease, including gingivitis, periodontitis, and gingival recession.

The American Dental Association recognizes periodontics as one of the nine specialties of dentistry. Periodontists receive extensive post-graduate education beyond dental school, and Dr. Turner has continued his education beyond that to obtain expertise in all phases of dental implant treatment and full-mouth rehabilitation.

Choosing a specialist who can cover all aspects of periodontal, implant, and restorative dentistry gives you the unique opportunity to receive comprehensive care in ONE office and the best chance of obtaining an optimal treatment outcome.
